'Un homme parmi les plus humbles...' - GK
Surnommé "L'Étoile d'Afrique", Hans Joachim 'Jochen' Marseille naquit le 30 décembre 1919 et trouva la mort au combat le 30 septembre 1942. Totalisant 388 missions et 158 victoires, il fut décoré à titre posthume de la plus prestigieuse médaille allemande: la Croix de Fer avec feuilles de chêne, glaives et diamants.
Un tout grand merci au Dr médecin Manfred Hafner qui, bien des années après la fin de la guerre, a soigné le Lt. Hoffmann, coéquipier de Jochen en Afrique du Nord.
Suite à un article paru en Suisse sur mon projet de constructin, le Dr Hafner a pris contact avec moi et a eu la gentillesse de me faire parvenir ces photos (excepté le portrait), prises en Afrique par le Lt. Hoffmann lui-même.

Nicknamed "The Star of Africa", Hans Joachim 'Jochen' Marseille was born on 30th December 1919 and killed in action on 30th September 1942. Totalizing 388 missions and 158 victories, he was posthumly awarded the highest German medal: the Knights Cross with oak leaves, swords and diamonds.
Special thanks to Dr. Manfred Hafner (MD) who, many years after the end of the war, treated the Lt. Hoffmann, Jochen's team-mate in North Africa.
Further to an article published in Switzerland about my construction project, Dr. Hafner got in touch with me and had the kindness to send me these pictures (excepted the portrait), which were taken in Africa by the Lt. Hoffmann himself.
